Review for 1st semester, 2006-2007
As I planned before this semester, I selected no tough courses besides compulsary FIN2010 and MGT1020 in order to get a higher GPA and leave more spare time for my soccer and cabinet. But this strategy does not equal being not deligent. I think I made more effort than either semester of first year. Much less time was spent staring at laptop screen and worrying about how to find a lover or so. Of course, it is partly because of my dear girlfriend, Desiree, who is so devoted in study and set a good role for me. I hope the situation can go on while I must face the fact that I am no longer a boy playing without worrying, but a business student in CUHK. It is time to think about my future and plan my college life though to some extend I wasted part of 1st year. GPA is not all I need, but an optimistic grade can at least prove I have ability and determination to achieve what I want. Moreover, some courses is necessary to help me equip the basic business concepts and skills I need, for example, Fundamental CF.
And I never ignore the importance of interest. I finally got on the way of Japanese studying and find it more challenging than I preassumed. The exam emphasized too much on grammar and were overally easy for most students. So the grade may be lower than I expect but I think this is normal in Japanese 1, after reaching high level, my passion and language sense cultivated by years' song-listening will lead me to an obvious advantage.
MGT class is so special and attractive because of our special professor, PP. Though a B+ is not bad for me, but I hope that I could have done better in project and presentation rather than written tests. I didn't learn enough thing through this course. Those theory is easy to recall but the chance to better develop my communication skill and business quality was gone. I should learn from it and be much more active in such kind of course. Hope things will be changed in coming MGT2510.
I took MAT1320 just to be aware of basic knowledge in calculus. In fact, it is easy to learn by individual. It is totally the different case from mainland students' University Mathematics. To store the knowledge and concepts of calculus is good. But don't take too much time on it. I did miss a lot of courses, but I ensured enough sleep in almost whole semester.
Facing so many major courses next term, I should be nervous. Time management is still a big problem for me, though the problem was not exposed as there were so much time this semester. Be proactive! Get important information initially!Scientifically and flexibly make the study plan! And, remember to be determined while working. Efficiency can lead to good time management. To be efficient, I have to keep clear mind and busy state while working. There will be no conflicts among soccer-training, extracitivities, and learning well.
By the way, I will treat this studyroom as a place to post the things I learned from reading magazines, taking courses, chatting with people or even taking part in some activities. Basically the content should serve my university life and career, and mainly related to business. Hopefully it can also help me improve my poor English.
